Kris Boyd has hit back at John Kennedy after he claimed this week that Celtic were still the best team in Scotland ahead of Rangers.

The Ibrox legend laughed it off, claiming that the best team in the country wouldn’t be 2- points behind the Scottish Premiership champions.

Steven Gerrard’s side have dominated in every aspect this season, and have gone through three Old Firm clashes unbeaten, with two to come.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Scottish Football Podcast, Boyd hit back at Kennedy after his questionable remarks this week.

“I didn’t understand the comments, to be honest, being the best in the country – 20 points behind in the table,” he said.

“Yes, there’s a bit of mind games going into the Scottish Cup game, but the be-all and end-all is the league, and that was sewn up months ago. For Celtic, it’s been a very disappointing season, no doubt about it, but you’re always looking to the Scottish Cup.”

It appears as though Kennedy is suffering from a case of living in the past, something that many Celtic fans have done this season.

We understand it will be hard to get their head around, but the blunt truth is that the Bears have started to dominate, and the huge 20-point gap is proof of that.

This weekend is the Scottish Cup, though, and a big Gers victory would set us on our way to a domestic double, and another example of the power shift.

Boyd has been in top form this season, and this is just another example of him getting it spot on when hitting back at Kennedy.
