Rangers fans were left drooling over Alfredo Morelos on Thursday night as the striker dominated Royal Antwerp at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard’s men booked their spot in the Europa League’s last 16 with a thrilling 5-2 win in Glasgow, added on top of their 4-3 win away in Belgium last week.

Morelos, 24, opened the scoring on Thursday night after passing the ball into an empty net in the early stages of the tie.

After the break, he assisted goals for both Nathan Patterson and Ryan Kent before winning a penalty that was converted by Borna Barisic.

Morelos also won huge praise from fans, pundits and Romelu Lukaku for his sportsmanship in the first half when he stopped a Gers attack due to an Antwerp player going down with an injury.

It was one of the most complete centre-forward performances we’ve seen with El Bufalo pretty much doing everything he could to earn the plaudits.

One Gers fan dubbed the striker as “world class” after an unplayable performance versus Antwerp, which ended just after the 80th minute when Cedric Itten replaced him.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Morelos showcased everything good about himself on Thursday night.

Yes, he has a bad streak and yes, he has had quiet spells in front of goals this season but ultimately, this is the player Rangers have on their hands.

We really don’t want to see him go in the summer.

In other Rangers news, John Hartson made a big claim about the Gers after Neil Lennon quit Celtic.
