We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has been blown away by the recent form of Rangers winger Ryan Kent in the wins against Royal Antwerp and Dundee United.
The Englishman has found the back of the net in both games, with his strike for the third goal against Antwerp superb to turn the game around in Belgium.
McLeish has recently insisted that Kent will find his form again for the Bears, and he has been proved right after he made it consecutive strikes yesterday at Ibrox.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “I told you he’d come good.
“We said a few weeks ago that he hadn’t scored for a number of weeks, but he’s still a very dangerous player. This week, I thought there was a freshness about him.
“he was so bright, his dribbling and his goals need no more elaboration by me because it was a brilliant piece of work and technically brilliant.”
This is the Kent that we have been waiting to see again.
His goal against Dundee United has a massive slice of luck, but the strike at Antwerp was magical, as he twisted and turned before firing home.
Steven Gerrard made the decision to bench the winger, and it clearly worked as McLeish spotted that new-found freshness in his game on and off the ball.
The 24-year-old had three shots on goal and completed three key passes according to WhoScored – his most involvement in a single game since the start of January.
We’re loving the recent form of Kent, and so is McLeish; long may it continue.
