Rangers are set to sign striker Fashion Sakala on a free transfer from Oostende in the summer, according to the Sun.
The newspaper claims that the Light Blues hope to beat a number of clubs from the English Championship to signing 23-year-old Sakala, who has scored 13 goals in 24 Belgian top-flight appearances for Oostende this season.
However, Sakala was nowhere to be seen in the Oostende squad on Saturday as they drew 1-1 against KAS Eupen.
Oostende confirmed via their Twitter account that the Zambia international has suffered a foot injury but hopefully it’s nothing serious that can derail Rangers’ bid to sign him on a pre-contract basis.

One in, one out?
Rangers already have plenty of options in the centre-forward position so it remains to be seen whether Steven Gerrard is planning on moving someone on to make room for Sakala.
Alfredo Morelos has been linked with a move away from Ibrox for some time now so this season could finally be his last in the Scottish Premiership.
However, Cedric Itten has struggled to impress on a consistent basis while Jermain Defoe’s contract expires at the Govan club.
Sakala could be seen as a replacement for one of those three players, with the only striker we can be certain on sticking around at Ibrox next season is Kemar Roofe.
However, as we’ve seen very recently, the ex-Leeds and West Brom forward has an issue with injuries and can never be relied upon to fully see out a season.
Sakala’s record in Belgium suggests he could be a great centre-forward option for Rangers anyway with the Zambian netting against top teams in the Jupiler League like Standard Liege, Royal Antwerp and Gent.
We’d definitely be happy with signing him on a free transfer but it does mean someone might be on their way out.
