Many Rangers supporters believe that Kris Boyd has been up to his old tricks after naming Celtic’s Callum McGregor in his team of the week.
Following the 1-0 win at Ibrox for the Gers in the Old Firm, Boyd named Ianis Hagi, Steven Davis, Leon Balogun and Allan McGregor in his XI for the Scottish Sun.
The latter would go on to be given his player of the week after producing a number of top-class saves in the derby.
Celtic’s McGregor on the other hand, while impressive in the game, got the all-important last touch following Joe Aribo’s near-post header in the second half.
After a clever flick-on from the midfielder, a touch from McGregor took the ball past Vasilis Barkas in between the posts and gave Rangers the lead.
While it must be said that Celtic were much improved against Rangers and gave the Gers a run for their money at times, seeing McGregor named in Boyd’s team of the week will come as a real kick in the teeth.
The crucial victory for Rangers takes them 19 points clear at the top of the table and surely ends any possible chance of Celtic catching them in this season’s title race.
Steven Gerrard’s men have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top even further when they face Aberdeen at Pittodrie next Sunday afternoon.
These Rangers fans have been reacting to the team on social media and here are some of the best reactions from Twitter.
