Some Rangers fans have ridiculed Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas after he failed to stop Callum McGregor’s own goal in Saturday’s Old Firm win.

McGregor deflected the ball into his own net following a Gers corner and this goal proved to be the difference as the Light Blues ran out 1-0 winners.

The result leaves Rangers 19 points clear of their city rivals as the Hoops’ slim title hopes took a major blow thanks to their captain on the day.

The all-important goal came in the second half and Barkas was powerless to stop the ball flying past him and into the Celtic net.

Or was he?

Footage tweeted by Rangers shows a new angle of the goal in super slow motion and Barkas’ attempt at a save had many Gers fans laughing.

The Greek keeper completely mistimes his jump, probably due to McGregor’s unexpected touch, and completely fails to punch the ball away as he stretches.

It does look comical as Celtic’s keeper gets everything wrong about the save at such a crucial moment that ultimately cost his side dearly.

This was quite the contrast to Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor who made a string of excellent saves to keep his side in the game.

One Rangers fan claimed that Barkas’ mistake looked like a glitch you would see on a computer game.

Another fan claimed that they couldn’t stop watching the amusing footage that the club tweeted out on Sunday afternoon.

Here is how some Rangers fans reacted to Barkas’ attempted save.
