Rangers legend slams key Celtic man – says he should be banned for Old Firm clash
Former Rangers man Mark Hateley says Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard should be banned for Saturday’s Old Firm derby.
As reported by the Daily Record, Hateley believes that the French striker should have been sent off against Dundee United after a horror tackle on Peter Pawlett.
During Celtic’s 3-0 win over United, Edouard put in a nasty lunging tackle on Pawlett but the incident went unpunished.
On the tackle, Hateley said: “It’s a lunge, it’s an out-of-control tackle, it’s over the top of the ball and there’s contact.
“Willie Collum is standing about 10 feet away looking straight at it. It’s a dangerous challenge and it’s a red card offence. So, he should be out of the Old Firm game.”
The report adds that as things stand, there is no indication that the SFA plan to look at the incident ahead of Saturday’s crucial meeting at Ibrox.

Edouard would have been a huge miss
Rangers should already be going into the game as huge favourites, such has been their dominance this season.
However, if they were preparing to face a Celtic team that did not include Edouard, the game may have already been over.
The French striker has been one of the very few glimmers of hope for the Hoops this season, with 11 goals across all competitions.
His form has led to speculation of a big-money move to AC Milan, but it remains to be seen what his future holds at Celtic.
Edouard was also one of just two Celtic players included in a recent ‘combined XI‘ by Kris Boyd ahead of the game, which speaks volumes of his ability.
