Charlie Nicholas claims Ryan Jack won’t be ready for Rangers when they play Celtic at Ibrox on Saturday but the midfielder is likely to be the only player missing for Steven Gerrard.
Jack, 28, has not played for the Light Blues since being substituted off in the second half of the win against Aberdeen on November 22.
Ever since then, there have been constant positive updates on Jack saying that he’s set to return. However, the ex-Dons midfielder has remained sidelined.
Former Sky Sports pundit Nicholas claims Jack won’t be ready for Rangers this weekend when they take on Celtic in the second Old Firm derby of the season.
However, Nicholas does believe there are other bits of positive team news for the Gers and predicts the game to end as a 2-2 draw.
“Steven Gerrard will be able to pick his strongest team, with the exception of Ryan Jack who is making slow progress in his recovery from injury,” Nicholas told the Daily Express, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Alfredo Morelos starts. The Colombian has played in a formation that has caused Celtic problems in the past.
“I can see this being an action-packed derby so I’m predicting a 2-2 scoreline, which would keep things ticking over in the title race.”
Celtic on the up?
Ever since a mob showed up at Parkhead to call on manager Neil Lennon to get sacked, Celtic’s players have pulled their finger out and started to improve their form.
The Bhoys have won their last three Premiership fixtures but remain 16 points behind leaders Rangers, who have played three games more.
Gerrard’s men need to show up at Ibrox on Saturday and know that they must win this game.
We don’t want the players to see a draw as an acceptable result because that thought process will come back to bite them.
Celtic players want to win this match to have any hope of saving their season and winning a 10th title in a row so they will be raring to go.
Rangers have had a few stuttering performances as of late where they have only narrowly beaten Dundee United and Hibernian while the less said about the defeat to St Mirren in the Betfred Cup the better.
There cannot be any half-measures this weekend.
In other Rangers news, fans have urged the Gers to re-sign this in-form player as a replacement for Steven Davis.
