Rangers stars Leon Balogun and Ryan Jack have been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Motherwell.

Steven Gerrard delivered the update in his pre-match press conference on Friday morning as he took stock after the first defeat of the season in midweek.

It’s a blow for Rangers who will be looking to get back on track after a shock defeat to St Mirren in the cup.

The team news was posted on the official Rangers Twitter page.

Time to show what Gers are made of

Balogun was forced off late on in the game against St Mirren, with Rangers looking for an equaliser.

They got it but conceded a dramatic late goal in stoppage time in the first loss of the season.

Balogun got a blow to the head following a challenge with Jonathan Obika and will miss the game due to medical protocols.

The situation with Jack is getting frustrating and it feels like Groundhog Day at every press conference at the moment.

For the last few games, Gerrard has been saying that Jack is close but that he won’t make the game.

That was the message again today and fans are beginning to get a bit restless and want to see the 28-year-old midfield back out on the pitch. He’s been out for almost a month now.

The game on Wednesday was a big disappointment but this is where the Gers squad can prove they can deal with setbacks.

It’s all been rosy so far this season and after losing the unbeaten tag, a big win against Motherwell will go a long way to easing any nerves in the Premiership.
