Ally McCoist was livid with Alfredo Morelos after the Rangers striker escaped a red card in the 2-1 win against Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday.
Morelos has struggled to get among the goals in the Scottish Premiership this season but was fortunate to only pick up a booking when he appeared to elbow Mark Connolly.
The Colombia international clearly raised his elbow towards the United defender, leading to the home side’s official Twitter account claiming he was “lucky to still be on the park”.

McCoist branded Morelos as “foolish” after the first-half incident because adding that Steven Gerrard didn’t need to see a player get booked so early on.
“Oh, dear me. There’s no words to describe that, it’s just foolish,” said McCoist on commentary on Sky Sports Football.
“Only minutes have gone and he’s on a yellow card. And I don’t know if you know, he has got previous.
The Ibrox legend added: “He leads with his arm. It’s crazy, absolutely crazy. He could have been [sent off].
“It gives Gerrard a problem he doesn’t need.”
Hot-headed rather than hot-streak
Morelos had an absolute shocker against Dundee United.
He was getting chances but seemed to lack any kind of goalscoring-nous inside the home side’s penalty area.
Morelos has scored seven goals in 22 appearances across all competitions this season which isn’t terrible but three goals in 13 Scottish Premiership games is way below what we’d expect from the Colombian.
Morelos shows signs of getting back to his best.
He shone in Europe against Lech Poznan and Benfica in October and November but has failed to build in that by not scoring in the league since September.
Morelos has started more games than he hasn’t in the league but it’s fair to say that all the other strikers are doing better than him at the moment.
What would make matters worse for Morelos would be if he gets himself sent off for something as stupid as that elbow at Connolly.
He should’ve been shown a red card and handed a lengthy ban but the booking means he’s escaped a suspension.
