Rangers fans have blasted Romanian attacker Ianis Hagi for his first-half performance against Lech Poznan on Thursday night as the Gers players went down the tunnel 1-0 goal ahead thanks to Cedric Itten’s strike.

Hagi, 22, has been in and out of Steven Gerrard’s side this season but was handed his 20th appearance of the campaign for the Light Blues ahead of kick-off in their final Europa League group stage game.

It was the Romania international’s first start – and first appearance – in Europe since the home win over Lech Poznan in October but it’s fair to say that the former Genk playmaker struggled to impress in the opening 45 minutes in Poland.

Hagi was played out wide by Gerrard and time and time again this season, fans have complained about that happeneing.

Hagi, as we’ve seen plenty of times, is far better when he’s played in the middle of the pitch and that could be why he’s blown hot and cold in the eyes of supporters.

There’s no doubting which way his first-half display went in Poznan though, with one fan claiming that the 22-year-old has not been good enough as of late.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Despite Hagi’s inconsistent performances, the Romanian has still supplied eight assists in his 19 total appearances before the match against Lech Poznan on Thursday.

He’s a creative master when he’s played in the right position but Gerrard has plenty of central attacking midfielders and not so many wingers.

Maybe if he signs a new winger in January that can replace the disgraced Jordan Jones, Hagi will start more games in the middle.

In other Rangers news, Darren Jackson has been gushing over this Ibrox-linked ace.
