Chelsea are not interested in sending Billy Gilmour out on loan amid speculation linking him with a return to Rangers, according to Jim White.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning, the Sky Sports and talkSPORT broadcaster reported that Chelsea “have no plans to loan rising star Billy Gilmour to Rangers or anyone else right now”.
White added: “He’s a big part of the plans at the London club.”

On Tuesday night, the Scottish Sun released a story which claimed Rangers are interested in re-signing Gilmour, 19, on loan in the January transfer window.
The Scottish Sun added that Chelsea were open to sending the Scotland Under-21 midfielder out on loan after an approach was made by the Light Blues.
However, White’s major update suggests there’s nothing in this and that Gilmour is very unlikely to return to Glasgow next month despite his lack of first-team football at Stamford Bridge.
It is widely known that Chelsea are a club that likes to exploit the loan system.
Last season, the London club sent 32 players out on loan.
Since signing Gilmour from the Gers in 2017 when the midfielder was just 15-years-old, the player has risen through the ranks at Stamford Bridge to the point where he’s appearing in Frank Lampard’s first-team squad every now and then.
This season, the Irvine-born midfielder has made just two senior appearances for the Blues, both of which coming in the Champions League against Sevilla and Krasnodar.
Gilmour is still on his way back to full fitness after suffering a serious knee injury in the summer so it would be harsh to say he’s been under-used by Lampard this term.
And that could be why he’s not available on loan.
Rangers were in the market for central midfielders in the last transfer window and ended up signing Bongani Zungu from Amiens on a loan-to-buy basis to add to their options.
Gilmour is a talented young player who we’d love to see back at Ibrox but we would prefer him to join permanently and if he was to join on loan, we’d want there to be an option-to-buy.
But as he’s so highly-rated, we doubt Chelsea would consider that.
