Jesse Lingard’s representatives are ‘exploring loan options’ ahead of the January transfer window with the winger recently linked with a move to Rangers, according to Sky Sports

TEAMtalk recently claimed that both Rangers and Celtic were set to battle it out in an effort to lure the 27-year-old north of the border.

Lingard is out of contract in the summer and has only featured for the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup this season.

Sky Sports claim that Lingard’s representatives have spoken to Spanish side Real Sociedad “among other clubs” in an effort to find their client a new club in January.

The fact that Lingard may be available on loan may make a move for the attacker a more attractive option for the Gers if they aren’t keen to spend a fee on a player who would otherwise be out of contract in the summer.

Lingard could provide a quality option for the Light Blues in the latter stages of the season as Steven Gerrard’s side will be hunting for a successful finish to their domestic and European campaigns.

As it stands, Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe, Brandon Barker, and Ianis Hagi are Gerrard’s viable options on the wing.

Jordan Jones is still at the club but it remains to be seen if he has a long-term future at Ibrox after he was suspended by the SFA for breaking COVID regulations.

Hagi hasn’t impressed in recent weeks and hasn’t started for the Gers in their last four league games. He also hasn’t played at all in Rangers’ last three European outings and the arrival of the experienced Lingard could provide a better option going forward for Gerrard.

If Lingard wants to reignite his career there can be few more attractive options than a move to Ibrox. If he joins he has a significant chance of winning silverware and showcasing his talent in a less competitive league.

TEAMtalk’s report suggests that there are several Premier League clubs interested in Lingard’s services so if the Gers do make a move for him they may face some competition.

In other Rangers news, Gerrard has made a prediction about his side’s moves in the January transfer window.
