Dave King has claimed that if Rangers win the Scottish Premiership this season it could usher in a decade of dominance at Ibrox.

Rangers are 11 points clear at the top of the table and look to be in a very strong position, though Celtic have two games in hand on the Gers.

As Celtic hunt a tenth successive title, King has claimed that Rangers could embark on a similar dominant decade if they wrestle the title back from their Old Firm rivals this season.

King is quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying, “I think that if we conclude by winning the league title, we are obviously in a strong position. Celtic still have good players and their motivation levels can be turned around. The league is far from being over.

“If we can conclude the league title this year then that change wouldn’t be permanent, but I think we would be reasonably solid for a period of time. It has already happened because of our European performances being better than Celtic’s recently.

“If we can just win a title then I think we will be there. I don’t think it will be a one-off. I think it could be for the next ten years.”

Earlier this week, King announced that he was selling his shares in Rangers to fan group Club 1872 in a move that would make Gers fans the majority shareholders of their club.

King’s comments about a Rangers ten-in-a-row will endear himself further to the Gers faithful but his claim isn’t that outlandish.

After all, we’ve seen Celtic come close to achieving that feat and they may still achieve it this season despite the Light Blues’ strong league position.

It isn’t too much of a stretch to believe that the Gers could go from strength to strength over the next few years and leave Celtic lagging behind.

If the Gers do win the league this season, a major overhaul will be needed at Celtic Park which would throw the whole club into turmoil and further strengthen Rangers’ claim as the best team in Scotland.

This could usher in a strong few years for Rangers and they could become the team on the hunt for the elusive ten title streak.

In other Rangers news, Kris Boyd has compared one Gers ace to Steven Gerrard after his fantastic recent form.
