talkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist has said that Rangers were “excellent from start to finish” in the 2-0 win against Celtic last week.
However, he picked out two attacking players – Alfredo Morelos and Brandon Barker – as not doing enough.
McCoist was talking on the Breakfast show on talkSPORT (Thursday, 7am) and said, “I’ve got to say this, I’m appreciative of the fact that every dog can have its day.
“So as good as Rangers were – and they were excellent – and Celtic very poor, it’s only one game and I’m not going to getting carried away. I thought Rangers were excellent from start to finish.
“However, I’m going to be honest and say I don’t think Rangers were great in forward areas, they can be better.
“Morelos and Barker were both quiet to be honest.”
Morelos doesn’t need to score against Celtic
Morelos is still looking for his first Old Firm goal – it’s the only blot on his Rangers copybook at the moment.
If he keeps scoring in the other games, though, it just doesn’t matter.
The next two games are huge for Steven Gerrard’s side.
A trip to Standard Liege tonight is going to be a tough test, especially with home fans in attendance. Rangers should have enough to win, though, especially as the home side have Covid issues.
Then it’s Livingston on Sunday and these are the games where Morelos can really prove his worth and ensure that the hard work done at Celtic Park isn’t undone immediately.
We think Barker will probably drop out after his poor performance against Celtic, with Ianis Hagi coming in on the right.
Morelos will start up top though even if Kemar Roofe is back.
