Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce claims Castore kit deal would be 'huge leg up' for Rangers
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has claimed that Rangers will receive a “huge leg up” from the eight-figure kit deal they have reportedly signed with Castore.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that the Gers still have a way to go before they can hope to match bitter rivals Celtic on a commercial front, but did argue the club’s new agreement would be a positive update.
SportCal reported last week that Ibrox chiefs have agreed a five-year deal with the Liverpool-based sportswear brand believed to be worth around £20 million.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “It’s a nice boost, sponsorship-wise.

“It will give Rangers a huge leg up because not only are they one of the biggest clubs in Scotland, but they’re one of the biggest clubs in Britain. To receive the sponsorship and help like that, it can only be good for them.
“There is still a gulf between the two Glasgow sides but some would say that Celtic deserve bigger deals because they won the league and have been the standout team for the last four or five years.
“But this new deal will give Rangers a boost.”
Castore are a fairly new face on the footballing scene, and have previously specialised in making equipment for individual sporting stars, such as tennis icon Andy Murray.
It is understood, however, that they are eager to make inroads into the English Premier League, La Liga, and Bundesliga in the coming years, and would make Rangers one of their first major clients in football if a deal is confirmed.
