Rangers loanee Jamie Murphy continued his fantastic run of form for Burton Albion with another goal on Saturday.

The winger scored the third in a pulsating 3-2 win for the English League One side, extending his record to five goals in seven matches.

The 30-year-old also has an assist to his name, and it’s fair to say that many Rangers fans are feeling more than a little conflicted about his current purple patch.

On the one hand, there are those who are delighted to see him returning to the peak of his powers.

On the other, there are others who are gutted that he’s not producing that kind of form at Ibrox.

With 6.1 successful dribbles and 20.47 duels won per game, as per Wyscout, even the most cursory glance at his stats show that he is operating at a high level.

But it’s the disparity between his expected goals and his average goals per game that really illustrate how well he is playing.

The former is just 0.31, but the latter is a massive 0.73.

Not only is he scoring goals, but he’s scoring goals he has no right to.

Hopefully he can continue that form when he gets back to Glasgow in the summer, because it would be a massive boost if he could.
