Rangers fans have taken to social media to heap praise on Borna Barisic for his display in their side’s 1-0 win over St. Mirren on Wednesday night.

The Gers had to grit their teeth through long spells of frustration against the Saints, managing just five shots on target despite having 63% possession, as per the BBC.

But it was Barisic who provided the spark for their winner, providing the assist needed for Jermain Defoe to open the scoring – the Croatian’s 14th of the season.

In fact, he was so good that Alan Hutton claimed that he was “superb” and probably Rangers’ “man of the match” while on punditry duties for Sky Sport News, as per Ibrox News itself.

And many supporters agreed, taking to social media to dish out plaudits left, right, and centre.

Barisic’s performance was made all the more impressive by the absence of skipper James Tavernier.

Without his captain sharing attacking duties on the other flank, the 27-year-old really stepped up to the plate, and while this won’t be a game that lives long in the memory at Ibrox, this is exactly the type of game that the Gers need to scrape through with all three points if they are to become champions.

Barisic was instrumental in making that happen tonight.
