Harry Redknapp claims Rangers ace would set PL 'alight' if he moved south
Harry Redknapp has claimed that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos would set the Premier League “alight” if he signed for Tottenham.
The Colombian striker is attracting a fair bit of attention due to his impressive goalscoring exploits in Scotland, with Football Insider reporting that Everton are keen on him.
But Redknapp believes that his former club, Spurs, should take a risk on the 23-year-old.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I would take him [at Spurs], yeah. I’d have a go [at signing him].
“He is right up my street.
“I’ll have him, I’d love him! He could come and set the place alight, couldn’t he?”
Would Morelos cut it at Spurs?
This is just about the last question that Rangers fans will want to be asking themselves.
In an ideal world, El Bufalo would be finishing his career at Ibrox after hitting hundreds more strikes in a Light Blue shirt, but the unfortunate reality is that his record in front of goal is always going to make him a darling of the gossip columns.
Nobody other than Redknapp has made the connection between Morelos and Spurs, but objectively speaking, could he cut it at that level?
There’s no reason why he wouldn’t be able to.
This is a player who has hit a goal every 84 minutes for the Gers this season, as per Transfermarkt.
You can argue all you want about the quality of the Scottish Premiership in relation to its English counterpart, but whichever way you look at it, that’s a seriously impressive record.
Would he score as many in England? Probably not. Would he still be hitting the back of the net more than a lot of his peers? Let’s hope we never have to find out.
