Rangers have had mixed success with bringing in young strikers from Finland.
At one end of the spectrum you have Alfredo Morelos, one of the hottest goal scorers in Europe right now, with 28 strikes already this season.
At the other you have Serge Atakayi, who has struggled to make any impression at Ibrox since arriving from FK Jaro three years ago.
The 20-year-old was given his senior debut by Steven Gerrard back in 2018, but has struggled with an ankle ligament injury, and now finds himself well out of the first team picture at Ibrox.
And it is understood that he could be on his way back to his home country in January.
According to a report from the Daily Record, the young forward is set to sign for Finnish club SJK for around £100,000 when the transfer window opens, having spent last summer on loan with the side.
Truth be told, this probably wouldn’t lead to too many objections at Ibrox.
Signing a young player is always a gamble, and while it’s a shame to see, it’s part and parcel that there are going to be some deals that just don’t work out.
Not every signing can be an Alfredo Morelos, after all.
Atakayi didn’t cost the earth, nor has he set the world alight, and so losing him for any kind of fee must be considered a success.
He’s still young, and there’s no saying that he won’t be able to turn things around when he gets back to Finland, but right now, it is absolutely the right decision to move him on.
Sadly, most Gers fans will probably forget he ever even played for the club in a couple of months’ time.
