Rangers will go into Sunday’s Old Firm derby against Celtic with one thing on their mind, revenge.
Steven Gerrard’s men lost the recent Betfred Cup final against their fierce rivals somewhat undeservedly, with the Light Blues dominating most of the contest but still managing to lose 1-0.
Rangers will know that they need to be at the top of their game at Celtic Park, but that three points would put them two points behind the leaders with a game in hand.
Connor Goldson knows his side will have to be at the top of their game and has recently heaped praise on Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard.
“You can’t focus on one player and just try to follow him around because suddenly you’ll have runners going behind you,” he told the Daily Record.
“He is clever. He’s not your out and out number nine who plays directly up against you and wants to run the channels.
“He wants to drop in and get on the ball more, leave space in behind for others to run. That’s how they get a lot of their goals. He not only scores, but he gets a lot of assists by linking the play.
“If you have an obsession with him, he is going to drag you into areas where you don’t want to be.”
Edouard is one of the clear dangermen in Neil Lennon’s side, but Goldson is spot on, if his side pays too much attention to him, they will get exploited easily.
Another performance like the one at Hampden Park is needed, with Gerrard’s men proving on that occasion that they are disciplined enough to do a job on their upcoming opponents.
