Rangers look to have a really promising talent on their hands in Glenn Middleton.
The young winger arrived from Norwich City in January 2018, and has shown on more than one occasion that he has what it takes to make it in the first team.
But at the current moment in time, with the likes of Ryan Kent, Sheyi Ojo, Brandon Barker, and now Joe Aribo all ahead of him in the pecking order, it makes sense for him to be sent out on loan.
His move to Hibernian at the start of the campaign looked to be perfect for all parties involved, with the Edinburgh club getting a precocious Scottish talent from a top side, and the player getting the opportunity to play regularly in the top flight.
But things have not worked out that way, and the 19-year-old has been limited to just 302 minutes in the Scottish Premiership so far this term, as per Transfermarkt.
In response to that lack of game time, Rangers have made the decision to recall him from his spell at Easter Road early, as confirmed by a statement from Hibs’ official website.
This is absolutely the right decision to make too.
What’s the point in a loan deal if the player involved isn’t going to be given a fair chance?
Now at least, whether the Gers look to send the starlet out for another loan or keep him around Ibrox for the time being, he will either be getting regular minutes or learning directly under the tutelage of his parent club.
If the club opts to send him out again, you would assume that there will be a fair few takers, and the hope will be that he actually plays some senior football.
