Rangers arguably have the most lethal attacking partnership in Scotland right now.
They may not start together every week, but in Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos they have a pairing who can seriously hurt just about any defence they come across.
Already they have struck 41 goals between them this term, and you wouldn’t bet against one or both of them adding to that tally over the course of the Gers’ next two matches.
But out of the two, it was the South American who came in for praise from former Celtic defender Alan Stubbs yesterday on Ladbrokes’ social club.
Referring to the Hoops’ need to strengthen their forward line in the January transfer window, he said: “It would be exactly the same for Rangers and Alfredo Morelos.
“Even though they’ve got Jermain Defoe, I still think Morelos gives Rangers another dimension.”
And let’s be honest, who can argue with him?
As far as proven goalscorers go, you will struggle to find one with the pedigree or experience of the 37-year-old Defoe.
But beyond that, it is Morelos who is catching the eye on a weekly basis, and who has elevated this Gers side to the point of genuine title contenders.
So far this term he has hit a goal every 82 minutes, as per Transfermarkt.
He is as regular as clockwork in front of goal, and having that kind of talent spearheading your side doesn’t just help in terms of winning matches, but also with regards to inspiring confidence in the dressing room too.
Going into a game with Morelos must feel like going into a video game with the cheat codes written on the back of your hand.
That is why Morelos takes this team to another level, and that is why it would be a very, very sorry day were he to leave any time soon.
