Alfredo Morelos is having a good season. 27 goals in all competitions already for Rangers and we’ve only just turned on the Christmas lights.
Morelos has got more than half his goals in this season’s Europa League – he’s a big part of why Rangers are looking forward to European football after the Christmas festivities – and he’s breaking records along the way.
UEFA has confirmed that Morelos has become the only player in history to score 14 goals in a European competition before Christmas.
And more records could tumble before El Bufalo has finished this season.
He’s already the joint sixth top scorer in a European competition for an entire season and he’s only four goals off the record of fellow Colombian Falcao, which he set when Porto won the 2010/11 Europa League.
It gets tricky for Rangers from now on. Falcao had the maximum number of games to make his record tally.
Rangers might not go all the way but if he can score four goals against Braga across two legs, he’ll equal his fellow countryman and surely send Rangers through to the next round.
We know how good Morelos is. Now everyone else will know as well. And his value might just have soared that little bit more.
