Alan Brazil is a Celtic fan but he’s supposed to keep a modicum of impartiality on the radio.
However, he was at it again on Thursday when he suggested that Steven Gerrard would dump Rangers mid-season and take the Arsenal job if it was offered to him.
Talking to Jim White, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, Brazil said, “If the Arsenal job comes up, see you later. He’ll do a Brendan.”
There’s a dream path set-up for Gerrard at the moment and it doesn’t involve fire-fighting at the Emirates.
Gerrard is partway through his first job at the top level and he’s working wonders at Ibrox. He’s got a real chance of silverware this season and already has one hand on the League Cup with a mouth-watering final coming up against Celtic on December 8.
After that he’ll have his gaze fixed on the Premiership trophy and Champions League football. Winning that this season is more than possible, albeit ahead of schedule.
After Rangers he wants the Liverpool job. He’s a Liverpool legend and we know he’s cutting his teeth at Ibrox before his dream job. That’s fine.
Jurgen Klopp’s contract runs out in 2022 and so far he’s resisted calls to sign an extended contract.
Klopp himself has said Gerrard should be the next Liverpool manager and taking a job at Arsenal now, with the London club struggling and the squad in need of an overhaul would be a terrible move for Gerrard.
The only person that thinks it would be a good idea is Brazil and he’s a Celtic fan… Now it’s starting to make sense.
